Start-up Research Survey

Supported by the collaborating organizations, this online survey is a part of the startup programme funded by the SME Development Fund of the Trade and Industry Department, HKSAR Government, in support of innovative startups. Innovative startups represent an important segment of Hong Kong open economy. According to 2018 InvestHK survey for the startup ecosystem of Hong Kong, there is a total of 2,625 startups with 9,548 employees. The growth of the startups is a significant drive for encouraging new opportunities in the city. This survey allowed us to explore some important aspects of the profile of Hong Kong startups in terms of the quality, financial and information security. The data collected through the survey is highly valuable, as it improves our understanding of the current phenomenon and also helps to contribute some good practices for innovative businesses. The survey will be followed up with a selective in-depth assessment to analyze the capabilities and company performance of the innovative startup. Hong Kong Society of Quality and Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency are responsible for the technical planning and the conduction of the survey, as well as for its disclosure.

• They have been established for no more than 5 years; or
• They are under any incubation/ acceleration programmes as incubatees; or
• They have finished an incubation/ acceleration programme and aferwards operate for no more than 2 years
