Who are eligible
Individuals who have fulfilled HKSQ requirements stated herein, and are members of HKSQ in good standing, are eligible to apply for registration.
On approval of the registration, a certificate will be issued to applicant and the registration needs to be re-certified on a tri-annual basis.
How to be certified
(1) HKSQ Membership
The applicant must be an individual member of HKSQ in good standing when he/she applies for certification registration.
Student members cannot apply for certification registration.
(2) Work Experience Requirements
Quality professional with at least four years on-the-job experience in one or more areas of Certified Quality Manager Body of Knowledge, in which at least a minimum of two years of this experience must be in a decision-making position.
For individuals without evidence to support on-the-job experience, exemption from the professional experience requirement should be approved by HKSQ prior to the application of Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).

(3) Education / Other Professional Recognition
Any one of the options – (A) to (E) – listed below:
(A) Successful completion of the Certified Quality Manager Course offered by HKSQ
Individuals who had, in previous 2 years, attended the Certified Quality Manager training course organized or co-organized by HKSQ and passed the examination, and have the requisite work experience specified in Section 2 above, can apply for registration as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).
(B) Having passed the HKSQ Certified Quality Manager Examination
Individuals who had, in previous 2 years, passed the HKSQ Certified Quality Manager Examination, and have the requisite work experience specified in Section 2 above, can apply for registration as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).

(C) Successful completion of an accredited university program
Individuals who had, in previous 2 years, successfully completed a university program in the quality discipline which is accredited by HKSQ’s Accreditation Board, and have the requisite work experience specified in Section 2 above, can apply for registration as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).

(D) With approved Individual assessment of academic qualification
Individuals who had applied for individual assessment of academic qualification and approved by HKSQ in previous 2 years, and have the requisite work experience specified in Section 2 above, can apply for registration as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).
(E) Holder of ASQ CMQ/OE
Individuals who are holders of ASQ CMQ/OE that will not expire in the next six months can apply for registration as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ).
A HKSQ Certificate will be awarded to each successful applicant who will be automatically registered for 3 years as Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ), or CQM (HKSQ) in abbreviation. The names of registered CQM (HKSQ) will be listed on HKSQ’s website provided that their HKSQ membership remain in good standing.

How to be re-certified
Certified Quality Manager (HKSQ) whose registration will expire in 6 months’ time can apply for re-certification. In order to be re-certified, such applicants must (1) accumulate 12 continuing professional development (CPD) units in the past 3 years, and (2) be members of the Society for the past 3 years.

A CQM (HKSQ) who is not re-certified 6 months after the expiration date of the registration will be de-registered. Applications for reinstatement of the qualification are regarded as new applications for registration.

HKSQ members registered as Certified Quality Manager under this scheme will be listed on HKSQ’s website.

The fees for certification and re-certification are subject to review by HKSQ from time to time.
